Behavioral disorders involve a pattern of disruptive behavior in children that causes problems in social or domestic situations, involving inattention, hyperactivity, impulsiveness, or crime. Includes:
Conduct disorder -When children refuse to accept rules because of delinquent behavior and lack empathy towards others. So called very often lying 'poor kids,' they are violent, they steal, they break into houses falling into this group.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – When children are constantly restless, impulsive, and have difficulty concentrating or completing anything. In children, this is the most common behavioral disorder in which they are inattentive, impulsive, and overactive
Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) – When children are angry with ease, they often argue and blame others for their wrongdoings. The threshold of self-esteem and frustration among children who have ODD is often low.
When you notice overactivity and impulsivity in children, it is helpful to seek professional help and they are quick to blame others and misbehave. It does not mean that they are crazy or inept, but it simply means that they require little extra effort. Behavioral illness is triggered by a dynamic relationship between a person's mental and physical factors and an early intervention may be a key to successful treatment.
Parenting style is a significant factor behind behavioral disorders. Tone needs to be gentle when dealing with them, as children are delicate and sensitive. Harsh behavior towards them leaves a lasting effect on their minds. Criticism should be constructive, shaming, shouting, ignoring, punishing, over-controlling, or micromanaging, which irritates and frustrates children.
